Approve the Memorandum of Agreement Between Motivational Coaches of America, Inc. (MCUSA) (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
MCUSA is a national healthcare company that provides behavioral health and wellness services to students using an evidence-based, motivational coaching program.  This program is designed for at-risk students struggling with academic achievement, anger management issues, bullying, self-esteem issues, grief/loss, as well as a wide variety of behavioral challenges.  The MCUSA program has been refined over two decades to meet the evolving needs of students.  Current programming consists of seven sequential phases including: goal setting, individual guidance, peer mentoring, active team and peer leadership, family bonding, civic leadership, and planning for future success.

Services, materials, and staffing provided by MCUSA are funded by a number of outside sources including private sponsors, insurers, and government programs; therefore this partnership will result in no cost to the District.  MCUSA has been in operation for over 20 years in approximately 200 public schools in Florida and has reached over 750,000 at-risk students.

The motivational coaching provided by MCUSA has demonstrated the following student participant outcomes:
  • 98% improvement in submitting homework assignments
  • 93% improvement in parent/child relationships
  • 87% increase in school engagement
  • 88% decrease in self-harming behavior
  • 97% decrease in rates of alcohol and substance abuse
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Engage and communicate with families and stakeholders • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
MCUSA will cover all costs to implement the motivational coaching program in Hillsborough County Public Schools. The District will provide office space or comparable work space and phone services when feasible.
MCUSA will provide the district with reports and comprehensive project outcome data following the data agreed upon in the Data Sharing (Exhibit C) and Memorandum of Agreement.
