B4.01 - Personnel Consent Agenda (Human Resources)

Description

Florida Statutes, State Board Rules and Hillsborough County School Board Policies require Board notification and/or action regarding decisions and recommendations of the Superintendent related to Personnel matters.  Actions regarding personnel have been recommended by Supervisors, approved by the Superintendent and are being forwarded to the Board for action or, if appropriate, for information.  Instructional, Support, and Out of Field personnel actions.

The attached job description is revised and details duties and responsibilities of the position, Wellness Coordinator, Student Nutrition (job code 59413).  This position is responsible for developing, planning, and executing districtwide wellness initiatives and programs that encourage healthy lifestyles for students and staff.  The revisions to this job description include moving the position from part-time to full-time and changing the salary to reflect that transition.

Gap Analysis

These personnel actions are necessary for the effective operation of the school district.

Currently there is no one designated to be responsible for the duties outlined in the Wellness Coordinator, Student Nutrition job description, which are vital to implementation of the Hillsborough County Public School Wellness Policy.

Previous Outcomes

The Hillsborough County School Board has approved each month a Personnel Consent Agenda which contains appointments, Instructional, Support, and Out of Field personnel actions.

Previously the Hillsborough County Public School Wellness Policy has been implemented by various employees in Student Nutrition Services, but not to an ideal extent due to the other required responsibilities of these employees.

Expected Outcomes

Approval of the Personnel Consent Agenda.

The Wellness Coordinator will facilitate necessary action items required by the Hillsborough County School Board Wellness Policy and the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, including facilitation of Healthy School Teams, collection of data and submission of wellness activity documentation for monitoring agencies.

Strategic Plan Goal

Goal:  Develop and support great educators, support personnel, and leaders.
Initiative:  Recruit and retain highly skilled, qualified, and diverse educators, leaders, and support staff.

Wellness Coordinator:

  • Responsible to formulate a plan of action, with oversite, to carry out the requirements of Hillsborough County Public Schools Wellness Policy #8510 and Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act.
  • Operate a financially solvent food service business while meeting the nutritional needs of our students.
  • Improve KPI benchmarks met in the areas of food, supplies, labor, and participation across school sites.
  • Increase participation in school breakfast and lunch program.

Recommendation

To approve the Personnel Consent Agenda.

Financial Impact

Personnel changes involving already-allocated positions will result in salary impact per the current Board-approved Salary Schedule.  This also includes supplemental positions.   See current backup for allocation changes for impact of new positions.

The Wellness Coordinator position is funded by Student Nutrition Federal Funds and has a salary range of $58,169.76 to $86,262.07.
