B7.16 - Approve Acceptance of Project for Referendum (Year One) Project at Colson Elementary School (Operations Division)

Description

The District's referendum advertisement provided for roof replacement, partial heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) replacement, stage lighting replacement and electrical upgrades at Colson Elementary School.  On February 5, 2019, District staff selected VoltAir Consulting Engineers, LLC and Halfacre Construction Company to provide design and construction management services, respectively, through a selection committee.  Award was made based upon the score granted by the selection committee.

Due to the magnitude of the scope of work and the limited time available over the summer months, this project was divided into two phases.  The design professional has certified that Phase 1 of the work is complete in accordance with the plans and specifications and other contract documents and, as such, recommends Board Acceptance.

Gap Analysis

Previously, Colson Elementary School's HVAC and roofing systems were seriously deficient and not performing satisfactorily.

Expected Outcomes

The school now has a much-improved HVAC system and a new roof over the majority of the school.  Phase 2 being performed in the summer of 2020 will totally complete the project.
