B6.08 - Approve the Agreement for Educational Services Between Chad Chronister, as Sheriff of Hillsborough County, Florida (HCSO) and The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (Climate and Culture)
The District's Student Engagement Department provides educational services to students enrolled in the K-12 instructional program who are incarcerated in adult jails administered by HCSO. This agreement, which outlines the roles and responsibilities of Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) and HCSO, is designed to facilitate the effective and efficient delivery of services to students served in jail settings as required by Florida law. This ensures that students receiving educational services in HCSO sites will receive Extended Year and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) funding from the Florida Education Finance Program.
To provide educational services to students enrolled in the K-12 instructional program who are incarcerated in HCSO adult jails.
Approximately 50 students are served at any given time by two dropout prevention teachers, an assistant teacher, and an ESE teacher.
To provide appropriate educational services to address the needs of incarcerated K-12 learners and develop and implement individualized educational plans for each student.

HCSO provides the facilities at no cost to HCPS.
This program is evaluated by the Student Engagement Department staff based on a model developed by the Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program.
