B4.03 - Approve the Affiliation Agreement Between Nova Southeastern University, Inc., Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice and the School Board of Hillsborough County (Human Resources)

Description

Agreement provides for clinical education experience for speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, school counselors, and teachers at sites in Hillsborough Schools. Clinical placements will be made through Human Resources with the goal of enhancing student achievement for both entities through clinical practice.

Gap Analysis

This collaborative partnership allows Hillsborough Schools to close the gap in vacancies for the following areas: teachers, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and school counselors.

Previous Outcomes

Over 70% of clinical practice students interning in Hillsborough Schools and graduating from colleges of education are hired each year by Hillsborough Schools. The partnership with the Nova Southeastern has allowed communication and collaboration between Hillsborough Schools to actively recruit and retain skilled and talented practitioners.

Expected Outcomes

To continue to recruit and retain a workforce for Hillsborough Schools from Nova Southeastern University. In addition, to continue to communicate and collaborate with partners serving students, staff and community.

Recommendation

Approve the Affiliation Agreement with Nova Southeastern and the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida, for Hillsborough Schools teachers, speech language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and school counselors.
