Title

B11.01 - Approve Change in the Management Company for Victory Charter School Tampa (previously Avant Garde Academy Westchase) (Office of Innovation)

Description

On December 15, 2015, the School Board voted to approve the Avant Garde Academy Westchase application to open a charter school in Hillsborough County for the 2016-2017 school year. The charter school’s governing board, International School of Excellence Inc., requested a deferral on February 24, 2016 to open in the 2017-2018 school year in order to finalize facility and building construction. On March 7, 2017, the School Board voted to approve the contract for Avant Garde Academy Westchase.

The application identified Alliance Education Services, Inc. (AES), a management company, as the Education Service Provider. A management services contract was agreed to by the school’s governing board and provided for a term beginning July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2021. The signed agreement was provided to the school district upon the opening of the school in August 2017.

On June 22, 2020 AES terminated its management services contract with the governing board of Avant Garde Academy Westchase.

The governing board has chosen to enter into a management agreement with National Academic Educational Partners, Inc. (NAEP), a Florida Educational Service Provider that provides full educational, operational, and financial services.

The school has changed their name to Victory Charter School Tampa. All the appropriate paperwork has been submitted to the Charter Office for the name change.
