W01 - Mental Health Awareness (Climate and Culture)
This workshop will provide information regarding the Mental Health strategies for Hillsborough County Public Schools. Student Services staff in collaboration with the Academic Services Division and the District Safety Specialist will promote and inform all stakeholders of the importance of Mental Health awareness. The strategic objectives presented will provide an increased awareness of mental health prevention and intervention strategies.
Board members and district staff have expressed a need for continued training and collaboration on the mental health objectives, strategies to meet those objectives, and the impact of the work surrounding mental health for students.

Participants will have a more extensive understanding of how the Student Services Department, the Academic Services Division, and the District Safety Specialist collaborate to provide mental health supports to students and families, as well as, support school staff on mental health awareness and interventions. Specific data on the impact of the mental health objectives and specific feedback from school sites will be provided. As a result of this workshop, there will be a greater understanding of our mental health efforts.
Goal 1: To increase mental health awareness in schools and provide protective and proactive measures for school safety.
Strategy 1:1 Provide direct mental health support to students and families through site-based and community-based mental health interventions.
Strategy 1:2 Provide evidence-based social emotional learning tools for classroom and small/individual group counseling lessons.
Strategy 1:3 Provide training in the areas of mental health counseling, youth mental health first aid, and other mental health awareness topics.
Strategy 1:4 Provide threat assessment training utilizing the district's online portal.
