A02 - Adoption of Proclamation - World Mental Health Day - October 10, 2020 (Climate and Culture)
Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental health illness. World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10 every year with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. World Mental Health Day is organized by the World Federation for Mental Health. This day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work and assess further needs to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
To help provide support to students and families in need of intervention, Hillsborough County Public Schools has designated Student Services teams to address mental health concerns and promote emotional wellness and awareness in our district. School Counseling Services, School Health Services, School Psychological Services, and School Social Work Services staff are available at every school. In addition, our district Mental Health team promotes mental health awareness, prevention and intervention to students district-wide. Each Student Services team provides daily support to our students, individual/group counseling, classroom/large group in-service presentations, faculty and administration consultation, agency referrals, and participates in parent conferences to support the whole child.
