B7.03 - Approve Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Classroom Addition at Wimauma Elementary School (Operations Division)
The addition of brick and mortar classroom space, sitework and canopies at Wimauma Elementary School is proposed to provide additional student seats in South County. District staff selected Hepner Architects, Incorporated and Halfacre Construction Company to provide design and construction management services, respectively, through a selection committee. Award was made based upon the score granted by the selection committee.
Approval of the GMP will establish the cost for the new classroom building.
Project Substantial Completion for this phase of the work is scheduled for July 12, 2021.
Due to rapid growth in south Hillsborough County, numerous Elementary Schools have exceeded capacities creating crowded conditions that, over time, could impair the learning process.
300 seats were requested. Original Budget was $6,000,000.
Completion of a 300-seat classroom addition to relieve overcrowding at Reddick Elementary School in south Hillsborough County, thereby enhancing the student experience to facilitate learning. Additionally, 137 students will come into Reddick Elementary School in the next 1-3 years due to approved developments.
GMP recommended for $4,785,008. Cost per student station is $14,157.00.
