Collaborative Efforts of Hillsborough County Public Schools in Support of Safe & Sound Hillsborough  (Chief of Staff)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Since its formation in 2013, Safe & Sound Hillsborough (SSH) has facilitated collaboration among community partners in support of strategic efforts to reduce violence and improve the safety of local communities.

Throughout its existence, the district has supported the work of SSH.  From participation in the Leadership Council and various committees to volunteer efforts in the community, the School Board and district staff have worked with SSH for the betterment of the community.

Noteworthy examples of this successful partnership include participation in community events, service to the organization on its committees, survey and data analysis, program evaluation efforts, marketing of volunteer and philanthropic events, as well as logistics and event planning to support SSH.  In the last year, the SSH Mock Trials allowed students in Hillsborough County Public Schools to become familiar with the court system and engage in experiential learning.

Several district employees also participated in Paint Your Heart Out, a community improvement effort held this year, as well as the Safe Summit, which allowed youth and adults to come together and discuss issues of violence.

Across a wide-range of initiatives, the School Board and district staff have worked with SSH to embrace this partnership and provide an example of successful collaboration.

In the coming years, we expect the relationship to continue to thrive as we work together to end violence in Hillsborough County.
