Approve the 2015-2016 Annual Educational Equity Update (Revised Attachment pages 3, 203, and 224)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Office of Equal Educational Opportunity of the Florida Department of Education requires school districts to submit an annual Educational Equity Update Report. The Office of Equal Educational Opportunity (OEEO) is responsible for the compliance oversight of the Florida Educational Equity Act, section 1000.05, Florida Statutes, and other federal and state legislation relating to equity in education.  The annual report enables the OEEO to monitor:

  • changes to civil rights policies and procedures,
  • strategies used to increase participation in advanced coursework by underrepresented groups,
  • gender equity in athletic programs,
  • strategies used to address employment equity of underrepresented groups,
  • implementation and evaluation of single-sex schools and classes, and
  • treatment of pregnant and parenting students.

Approval by the School Board is required for final submission of the 2015-2016 Annual Equity Update.
