EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
As a follow up to the Hillsborough County Public Schools 2017 Leadership Institute, In Pursuit of Equity and Excellence, school and district leaders have continued to focus on the topic of equity through ongoing trainings, meetings, and learning walks in schools.  The partnership with NYC Leadership Academy will provide an added layer of support to current district efforts through the following strategies and activities:

·         The development of a tool to support current learning walks adding a lens of equity and reinforcing the Superintendent’s four structures for achieving equity and excellence in schools

·         Observation, feedback, and coaching support provided to Area Superintendents and Principals following learning/equity walks

·         Use of equity simulation to further develop Principal and Area Superintendent practice around school issues addressing equity

·         Continued training and support for senior staff and school board

The contract is being funded through the Department of Education Instructional Leadership Faculty Development grant.  The purpose of this grant is to develop and support teacher practice through the development and support of leader practice.  As we improve district and school leader practice, we impact teacher practice and student outcomes.  Working with NYC Leadership Academy to reinforce how we approach equity throughout the district will move Hillsborough County Public Schools a step closer to closing achievement gaps.
