EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
SHP is a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.  The intent of this organization is to honor all of victims of gun violence by providing programs and practices to protect children and prevent the senseless, tragic loss of life.

Upon approval of this agreement, SHP and Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) will begin an exciting partnership and launch SHP's Start with Hello program in Project Prevent schools.  Additional schools will receive the program as requested and through strategic planning initiatives.

Young people who are isolated can become victims of bullying, violence, and/or experience depression.  As a result, many further pull away from society, struggle with learning and social development, and/or choose to hurt themselves or others.  The Start with Hello program teaches students to be more inclusive and socially accepting, which results in students and staff becoming more connected to one other.  The program promotes a school-wide culture to reduce social isolation.
