The Benefits of the Teaching Tools Store (TTS) at the Hillsborough Education Foundation (Business Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Teaching Tools Store provides free school supplies year-round to economically disadvantaged students attending Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) designated as Title I Schools.  Title I is a federal designation, which signifies that 60 percent or more of the students in the school qualify for free and reduced lunch programs based on their household size and income.

The Teaching Tools Store opened its doors in 2002 serving 70 Title I schools that year.  Last school year the Teaching Tools Store served 140 Title I schools in Hillsborough County.

Since 2002 the Teaching Tools Store has given more than $15 million dollars in free school supplies to our teachers and their students in Title I schools.

The store is open to any full-time HCPS teachers who are teaching in non-Title I schools.  The only qualification is that the teacher volunteers 3 hours a month at the store and they will earn a free shopping trip worth more than $200.

The Teaching Tools Store and Hillsborough Education Foundation are committed to helping thousands of our students in need and to provide them the basic tools to be successful in the classroom.

Our School District and the Hillsborough Education Foundation are committed to helping thousands of our students in need and to provide them the basic tools to be successful in the classroom.

How does this happen?  We have a partnership approach regarding this great venue.  The school district employs the team at the Teaching Tools Store and the overall management and day-to-day responsibilities remains with the Hillsborough Education Foundation.

What can you do to help?  The Teaching Tools Store accepts teaching supplies and materials, monetary donations, and if you have time to volunteer, please do so.
