SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Memorandum of Agreement Between Success 4 Kids and Families and The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Since 2005, Success 4 Kids and Families (S4KF) has offered services to parents and families when students begin to experience problems in school, at home or even with the law.  This organization is dedicated to providing wellness and clinical services that help individuals use their strengths and abilities to live productive, independent, and happier lives.

Upon approval of this agreement, S4KF and the district will enhance its rich partnership designed to meet the mental health needs of students.  This agreement will establish a framework for collaboration that provides targeted students access to school-based interventions provided by S4KF at designated school sites.

Interventions provided as needed to students and their families will include screening and assessment; on-site individual and family counseling; meeting with students and teachers to assess progress; and collaborating with families.  Examples of students eligible for services include students who appear to be suffering from depression, anxiety, students bullying others, or being bullied themselves, students exhibiting high-risk behaviors that increase the potential for academic failure, suspension or expulsion from a traditional school setting, students who are displaying chronic truancy or are having trouble adjusting to changes in their home or school environments.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Engage and communicate with families and stakeholders • Continuously improve processes and systems • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
There is no financial impact to the district for these services.  The district will ensure each targeted school provides work space that maintains the confidentiality of the student and/or family.
EVALUATION
S4KF will work in collaboration with district personnel to garner appropriate information to complete all required reporting.  Data reports will include statistical information that will indicate utilization of services, types of services accessed, number of students served and other mutually agreed upon outcome measures that indicate improvements in targeted student goals including: absenteeism rate; overall behavior, and academic achievement.  S4KF programming has demonstrated an 85% success rate in individualized goal attainment for participating clientele in Hillsborough County.  This is a baseline year for this evaluation.
