Approve Award of Contract for Hurricane Hardening at Two Sites (Erwin, McLane) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida and the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management have been working together over the last several years to improve school facilities to serve the community as shelters in times of declared emergencies. The State granted funds to the school district to retrofit McLane Middle School and Erwin Technical College. The State Grant No. 17SR-3D-08-39-03-384 now has a construction budget of $1,364,929 with a completion date of December 31, 2018.
To that end, the project was advertised and bids received (see attached bid tabulation). Award of the contract for construction to the lowest qualified bidder, R L Burns Inc., is recommended. |

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes) | |
Funds in the amount of $1,364,929.00 will be reimbursed by the State of Florida Department of Emergency Management. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 8621. As of Wednesday, April 04, 2018, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $1,255,790.31.
The contract amount being awarded is $784,486.
