SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Agreement for Technical Service (ATS) with King & Walker, CPAs, PL, (K&W) to Provide a Financial Management and Performance Audit of Educational Planning and Construction Activities (Business Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
If approved, K&W will conduct a financial management and performance audit of the educational planning and construction activities of Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) as required by Section 1013.34(2), Florida Statutes. The process will include an examination of HCPS construction project financial management procedures and planning procedures in the development of its educational facilities plan, as well as the district’s performance and compliance with Section 1013.35, Florida Statutes. Based on work performed by K&W.  The firm will issue a report that will support conclusions made no later than December 1, 2016.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Establish a strong foundation of financial stewardship • Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $19,500.00 will be available in the Land Proceeds budget.  There is no specific project number assigned to this purchase.  As of August 11, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $19,500.00.
EVALUATION
HCPS is responsible for the appointment of a designated individual to serve as a liaison to work with K&W in coordinating the conduct of these services, ensuring the final report meets all requirements of this agreement, and communicating the results.
