Approve the Renewal of the Sub-Agreement Between the Boy Scouts of America Greater, Tampa Bay Area Council and Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) for Services Associated with the Learning for Life (LFL) Grant Implemented in HCPS Elementary School Sites (Chief of Schools) 
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Approval is requested to accept the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) grant award to the Boy Scouts of America, Greater Tampa Bay Area Council and HCPS for the implementation of the LFL program at 36 elementary schools.  The purpose of the program is to enhance and improve performance of at-risk, low-performing students and to reduce dropout rates by providing additional learning opportunities.  This is accomplished through strategies such as enhanced instruction, mentoring activities, training, mentor support, and/or addressing unmet needs at low-performing schools.

HCPS has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America, Greater Tampa Bay Area Council since 1998 to implement this program.  During the 2015/2016 school year, 4,105 LFL lessons were delivered and approximately 20,000 students received at least one LFL lesson.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $214,610 will be available in the LFL budget.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3192.  As of Wednesday, September 14, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $214,610.  The remaining balance less encumbrances for the LFL Grant is $265,813.  Should additional grant funds become available during the 2016-2017 project year, the Superintendent is authorized to accept them.
EVALUATION
Evaluations are performed for all funded grants as required by the grant funding authority.  Project personnel collaborate with the district's Divisional Information Services (IS) and the Office of Assessment and Accountability to collect required formative and summative evaluation data and submit it to the funding authority.
