| Approve the Purchase of the Renewable Site License Contract and Renewable Hosting Agreement for FirstClass OpenText, Inc. (Community Relations) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| FirstClass from Open Text, Inc. provides a full suite of services to enhance districtwide communication. These services include email, conferencing, calendars, workflow processes, professional development registration, alert notifications, web services, and much more. This enhanced enterprise maintenance and support services contract will provide unlimited district licensing for all FirstClass applications, including but not limited to: Core System Service, E-mail/Collaboration Services, Archive Services, Synchronization Services, Application Services, and Unified Communication Services.
The Cloud-based Managed Hosting Service provides the server hardware, secure off-site redundancy, disaster recovery, around-the-clock maintenance, and support. Managed Hosting also provides the hardware necessary to store FirstClass data. In the event of a natural disaster, this contract provides the assurance and peace of mind that Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) data resides in a protected and secure location, allowing crucial and vital communication to continue. Based upon the current licensing, maintenance, and support structure, this three-year renewal (October 29, 2016, through October 28, 2019) has no increase in cost to the district. We had a few delays with this item as we researched our options for the future; therefore, this request is a few days late. This support and licensing renewal from OpenText, Inc. is exempt from the solicitation process as information technology, per Florida Department of Education rule 6A-1.012(14). |
