B5.01 - Approve Charges for Student Supplies for the 2020/2021 Academic Year (Chief of Schools, Administration and Leadership Development)
The School Board annually approves charges, reimbursements, and rental fees to cover the cost of consumable supplies, textbooks, vocational kits, etc.
Category I: Funds Paid by the Board for Consumable Supplies - These funds are supplied by the School Board and are given to schools for consumable supplies. Subject area allocations are to be used only for the courses/subjects indicated. No more than 10 percent of the specified allocation may be applied to indirect costs. New Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses have been assigned an allocation.
Category II: Personal Property - These charges are paid by the students. The books, kits, etc. become the property of the student. Each charge reflects the actual cost of the item.
Category III: Rentals (Paid by Students) - These items are rental fees and dues paid by the students.
Category IV: Service Charge (Paid by Students) - These items are service charges paid by the students and are primarily Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) dues and similar charges.
Category V: Available through the Bookstore or Similar Operation - These are optional items including workbooks, paperback novels, etc. that are generally sold through the Bookstore.

Schools are in need of instructional supplies to maintain an effective, equitable instructional environment. The current supply funding meets the need in most classrooms, with the exception of a few that may need adjusted to meet the costs related to some programs.
The Hillsborough County School Board has provided equitable instructional supply funds to all schools to meet the needs of individualized programs throughout the district.

Estimated CTE supply funds are expected to increase by $112,805 over the 2019/2020 levels due to increased enrollment, allocation adjustments, and the addition of new CTE courses.
