B7.07 - Approve Share Our Strength and Hillsborough County Public Schools, Student Nutrition Services (SNS) Grant (Operations Division)

This is a continuation of Hillsborough County Public Schools SNS and Share Out Strength (SOS) grant to increase breakfast participation by offering funds to implement alternative breakfast models in 77 school sites. This continuation provides dollars for oversight, resulting in an increased breakfast opportunity for many more students.

Since fiscal year 2018/2019, breakfast participation in the initial 11 target schools increased by 6% and Share Our Strength extended the grant to include extra dollars to better fill the gaps for equitable distribution of resources in more school sites.

Since the inception of the Share Our Strength Partnership (2018), breakfast participation has increased in chosen SOS sites by an average of 10.9%.

Upon approval by the board, we expect our 77 schools listed in this grant will continue to offer many ways to serve our students a healthy breakfast daily to ensure they are properly fueled to learn in the classroom.

The district ensures fiscal responsibility and equitable distribution of resources.

Extend/renew the Share Our Strength grant for fiscal year 2020/2021.
