Title

B7.02 - Approve 2020/2021 PECO and Millage Projects (Operations Division)

Description

The Florida Legislature has historically appropriated funds to support Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO).  No PECO funds were allocated to the District for 2020/2021.

Millage funds are received from local property tax assessments.  Millage funds also provide payment for debt service, site and bus purchases, and other obligations.  The 2020/2021 projects identified on the attached sheets are the result of prioritizing recommendations from facility assessments, maintenance staff, Region Superintendents and individual schools.  The total millage revenues are projected at $175,992,252 for 2020/2021.

Gap Analysis

The millage funds are based on property taxes, so fluctuations are based on the overall assessments.  PECO funds are allocated by the FDOE, and no funds have been allocated this year.

Previous Outcomes

The millage projection last year was $162,676,797, and no PECO funds were allocated.

Expected Outcomes

The projected millage is $175,992,252 for 2020-2021.  No PECO funds are projected.

Strategic Plan Goal

* Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning

* Establish a strong foundation of financial stewardship

* Engage and communicate with families and stakeholders
