B6.01 - Approve the Renewal Agreement with Florida Virtual School (FLVS) for the 2020-2021 School Year (Chief of Schools, Administration and Leadership Development)
Per Florida Statute 1002.231, all school districts in Florida not eligible for the Sparsity Supplement must provide three virtual instruction options to students. FLVS Virtual Instruction Provider (VIP) is a K-12 virtual school. They will provide a free, full time, 180-day online instructional program to eligible students during the 2020/2021 school year. Funding will be based on the regulations established by the Florida Department of Education in accordance with Florida Statute 1002.45. This is an annual fee per student for services provided.
All students are required to participate in the state assessment program created in Section 1008.22, Florida Statutes. All instructional staff must be highly qualified as identified by No Child Left Behind standards and hold valid Florida teaching certificates under provisions of Chapter 1012, Florida Statutes. FLVS VIP will ensure all employees and contracted personnel undergo a background screening as required by Section 1012.32, Florida Statutes, using state and national criminal history records, and will provide a list of instructional employees to the district for verification of compliance and according to FLVS VIP standard procedures.
