SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the School Health Plan for 2006-2008 and the School Health Services Annual Budget Report for 2005-06 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The submission of an Annual Report and School Health Plan are required by law every two years. The plan outlines how the school district and the local health department will meet the federal and state required mandates. The School Health Report outlines School Health Services provided and the School Health Budget. The contracts with the Health Department currently draw funds for comprehensive health services, screenings, immunization record reviews, and the volunteer school nursing project.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 6 – All schools in the district will be assigned a state grade of A, B or C.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

$1,209,088 - Funding comes from the State of Florida Department of Health to the School District. These dollars provide funding for 24.75 (units) Registered Nurses, 2 (units) Licensed Practical Nurses, health services equipment, and clinic supplies.

EVALUATION

The School Health Report serves as an evaluation tool. This School Health Report provides information on the number of mandated health services, clinical services to students, and distribution of funds to accomplish these activities.
