Approve the Contract with Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. to Renew Pregnancy Prevention Program (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This contract renewal is in effect September 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. The Prevention Specialists provide education and counseling to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students at eight middle school sites. The Education Now and Babies Later (ENABL) curriculum is delivered to sixth graders. Ongoing counseling is available to all middle school grades with pre-parent permission at the selected school sites (Buchanan, Dowdell, Franklin, Madison, Memorial, Monroe, Pierce and Van Buren). Partners in providing extended services to at-risk students are the Hillsborough County Health Department, the YMCA Success Centers and the Healthy Start Coalition. Extended services are provided by the Hillsborough County Health Department and YMCA Success Centers on a per student encounter rate for counseling services. The Healthy Start Coalition provides the evaluation component.

Goal 5 – The district will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
($200,000.00) – These funds are provided by the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. and are given directly to the district. These dollars will fund teacher’s salaries, extended services and evaluation, as well as materials and supplies.
