This project was planned by the architectural firm of John J. McKenna Architect, P.A. On March 12, 2002, the Board appointed the construction management firm of Batson-Cook Company. The scope of work includes the conversion of five classrooms into a media center and the construction of twelve new classrooms. The multi-purpose/dining building will be extended to accommodate a new music room. The kitchen will be renovated and will include all new equipment. Existing buildings will receive new windows, doors and frames. Mechanical and electrical systems are being renovated campus-wide and will include replacement of rooftop units. Restrooms will be renovated to meet handicap accessibility requirements. All classrooms will receive new marker boards and tack boards, audio-visual screens and blinds. All buildings will receive new acoustical ceilings, floor finishes, casework and paint. New fire alarm, intercom, security, telephone and data network systems will be installed throughout the facility. New signage will be provided campus-wide. The parking lot will be expanded and restriped and two retention ponds will be constructed to accommodate the additional parking area and new buildings.

This change order provides for a fence between James Elementary School and Oak Park Elementary School.

Critical Success Factor 6.a.8 – Provide sufficient student stations to ensure uninterrupted student learning and data gathering as measured by District Operational Goals plan.
