Approve Non-financial Support for Athletic Facilities Proposal by Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners

The Honorable Jim Norman, Hillsborough County Commissioner, will present information on a proposal for athletic facilities that will benefit district students:

Construction of a major athletic complex on the Cone Ranch property at Route 39 in northeast Hillsborough County. The complex will include:

• a football/soccer stadium with seating for more than 20,000 people;
• a baseball complex consisting of four fields with seating at each field, with one field having seating for 3,000 to 5,000 people;
• several multi-use fields for youth sports;
• parking, concessions, restrooms, and full-time maintenance; and
• construction of a rubberized, all-weather, metered track (possible alternate location is the University of South Florida.)

Construction of these facilities will provide the district with additional venues in which to hold athletic events. The proposed facilities will be available to district schools under the current cooperative reciprocal agreement with the Board of County Commissioners for utilization of facilities.
