ENERGY CONSERVATION INCENTIVE AWARDS

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In April 1995, an energy conservation plan was approved to encourage schools to eliminate energy waste in the District. Schools exceeding their conservation goal receive fifty percent of the savings as their incentive to eliminate energy waste. Schools failing to meet their conservation goal share in the additional expense. During the 2004-05 school year, 105 schools reduced their energy consumption by a total of 9,716,329 kwh for a total cost avoidance of $854,065.31. An additional 106 schools were either new schools, under renovation, or had operational issues that precluded participation in the program. Five schools did not meet their target.

Award schools a total of $347,983 and collect $565 (ten percent) from schools that did not meet their target.
