2005 Great American Teach-In

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Great American Teach-In was initiated in 1990 as a joint effort of the Hillsborough Education Foundation, SERVE, local businesses and educators to encourage the community and parents to share real life insight into working careers while reinforcing the importance of education for success. District schools hosted 9,604 speakers and 18,824 presentations at the sixteenth Annual Great American Teach-In on November 16, 2005. Scheduled speakers ranged from law enforcement officers to authors to cake decorators. Coast Guard helicopters, police vehicles, fire trucks, hot air balloons and racecars were also displayed. In addition, the SERVE office provided 29,000 brochures and 1,250 posters promoting the event.
