SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Interlocal Agreement with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for Alternative to Out-of-School Suspension (ATOSS) Program - Assistant Teacher - $18,000 (Technical and Career Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The School District partnership with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for the "Weed and Seed" Alternative to Out-of-School Suspension (ATOSS) Program in the Palm River community was implemented by Interlocal Agreement in 2003. The current Interlocal Agreement was approved by the School Board on July 12, 2005.

An additional Interlocal Agreement has been developed to provide services of an Assistant Teacher district-wide to assist students, including service learning projects, to develop attitudes, behaviors, and skills that make it possible for them to be successful both socially and academically. The Interlocal Agreement will fund up to $18,000 for the period ending February 28, 2007.

Approximately 500 students are served at the ATOSS sites.

Funds in the amount of $18,000 for the Assistant Teacher services district-wide will be provided by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. There is no additional cost to the district.
