SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Contract for Dr. Tina Bacon to Perform Evaluation of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program as Outlined in the Grant (Information and Technology)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An outside evaluator is required under the guidelines of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant, project #1022. Dr. Tina Bacon will conduct the evaluation for year one. Her duties will include, but not be limited to the following: supervise the activities for both parts of the magnet grant evaluation; meet and communicate with consultants hired by the Department of Education for assisting Local Educational Agencies with the rigorous evaluation pieces; communicate with the Magnet program supervisor and staff; devise sampling plan for rigorous evaluation; assist in the planning stages of implementation; communicate with participants; conduct site visitations; attend conferences; perform programming for data collection; collect/analyze data; write report.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5: The district will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by the No Child Left Behind. Critical Success Factor 5.d: Provide staff development programs that match instructional delivery strategies with diverse student achievement needs.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The cost of the contract is $14,999 including fringe benefits. The contract cost is funded through the 1022 project, Magnet Schools Assistance Program.
