EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In an effort to meet class size reduction mandates, the 2003 General Appropriations Act provided for the sale of lottery revenue bonds to fund the Classrooms for Kids Program. The District has participated in three previous bond sales totaling $84,115,570 for classroom additions. Hillsborough County's allocation from the 2005-2006 General Appropriations Act is $8,520,056 in non-bonded general revenue.
To participate the School Board must certify that sufficient student capacity does not exist within facilities to meet the constitutional class size requirements and provide a list of projects included in the program. The attached project list identifies partial funding for new elementary schools "H" (Summerfield Crossing), "K" (Doby), "G", "I", and "X".
