Approve Renewal Five-Year License Agreement with Sun Dome, Inc. for Use of The USF Sun Dome for Hillsborough Regional Science and Engineering Fair, February 2006-2010 - $20,000 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This renewal License Agreement for 2006-2010 will provide The USF Sun Dome facility during the month of February each year for the Hillsborough Regional Science and Engineering Fair. This year's Fair is scheduled for February 14-15, 2006, where over 800 student science projects from more than 60 public and private K-12 schools will be exhibited. Projects are from classes, student teams, and individual students depending upon the grade level. Judging will take place on Tuesday, February 14 and the Fair will be open to the public on Wednesday, February 15. The Fair ends on February 15 with an Awards Ceremony for Elementary at 6:00 P.M. and Middle and Secondary at 8:00 P.M.

The Hillsborough Regional Science and Engineering Fair is affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair. The top 26 middle and high school students will exhibit at the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair in April, and two high school students from our Regional Fair will represent our district at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Indianapolis, Indiana in May.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 3 - Student performance on FCAT science will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The five-year facilities cost of $20,000 for The USF Sun Dome is funded by the International Academy of Design and Technology, a community donor, through the Hillsborough Education Foundation.

EVALUATION

An annual debriefing of the science fair activity will be conducted.
