EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Michelle Stone, Math Resource Teacher at Sheehy Elementary School, is the first recipient of the "National Football League Fan Teacher of the Year Award." The National Football League sponsored the contest to give fans the opportunity to nominate teachers who have made a significant positive impact on their lives. L’Asia Maxwell, a student at Stewart Middle School, nominated her former teacher in the 200-word essay and her nomination was selected from 1,500 applications nationwide. Ms. Stone has previously been recognized as a finalist for the Hillsborough County Ida S. Baker Educator of the Year Award. Ms. Stone has been teaching for 16 years and serves as the School Advisory Committee Chairperson at Sheehy Elementary School. She also teaches in the after-school program at Sheehy. She was instrumental in mentoring and encouraging L’Asia Maxwell to excel in both her academic and personal endeavors.
