Adoption of Proclamation - Music in Our Schools Month, March 2006

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The National Association for Music Education has designated March 2006 as Music in Our Schools Month. Attached is a proclamation that the School District of Hillsborough County will observe the month of March 2006 as Music In Our Schools Month.

The theme for this year’s activities is “Music – the Heart of Education!” Music in Our Schools Month is a time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation. This focus on music in the schools provides an excellent opportunity for students to share musical ideas and accomplishments with their families, friends, and communities.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The district will close the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

Activities for Music in Our Schools Month are integrated into the standard curriculum with no additional cost to the district.
