On September 7, 2004, the Board appointed rojo Architecture and Mathews Construction of Tampa to provide design and construction management services for the classroom and media center additions and remodeling of the existing media center to classrooms. These additions are necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. The scope of work provides for the following: 12 new classrooms and one new media center, remodeling of the existing media center to four classrooms, replacement of the fire alarm and intercom systems, and replacement of a small amount of existing phenolic roofing.

This change order provides for grouting and abandoning of an existing 8" sanitary line running under the new building, which was disconnected during construction. It also provides for construction of a new sanitary line to serve the new building, implementation of charges required by the Department of Education, and reinforcing of an existing tie beam disconnected in the old media center during construction. A time extension is included for completion of the work.

Critical Success Factor 6.a.8 - Provide sufficient student stations to ensure uninterrupted student learning and data gathering as measured by District Operational Goals plan.

These items are included in the District Capital Outlay: Classrooms for Kids (classroom additions), Public Education Capital Outlay (fire alarm and intercom replacement), and 2 Mill (phenolic roofing replacement).
