SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal Contracts with State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for Motorcycle Safety Training Program, Adult and Community Education, 2006-2007 (Adult and Community Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Since 1991, our district has provided a motorcycle safety training program in collaboration with the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Renewal contracts for the 2006-2007 school year have been developed to continue the Florida Rider Training Program with assistance and guidance from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF).

Classes are offered at Armwood and Chamberlain High Schools through the Adult and Community Education Department. The program has served approximately 8,460 students and offers two classes: MSF Basic RiderCourse and MSF Experienced RiderCourse.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Classes are self-sustaining from fees paid by adult students and cover all direct and indirect expenses. There is no additonal cost to the district.
