Approve the Naming of the South County Career Center Access Road

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The faculty, staff, parents, and community of South County Career Center have requested that the access road leading to the school be named John Sherman Way in honor of the principal, John Sherman. Mr. Sherman has served the Hillsborough County School System for 35 years as a teacher, assistant principal, supervisor and principal. He was appointed Principal of South County Career Center on October 15, 2002 and has always instilled in his students his passion for them to succeed. He has gained the respect of his colleagues, parents, and students.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Other: This is in accordance with Policy 8.27 (Procedure Summary) which governs that school sites and facilities shall be named for individuals who have rendered outstanding public service to public education, for geographical locations and for groups and clubs as indicated. Elementary, middle and secondary schools - for presidents, school board members, educators, outstanding citizens and geographical location
