Approve Change of Placement for Exceptional Student Education Students

A Department of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Case Review Committee reviewed the cases of twenty-eight ESE students who have committed expellable offenses. As required by law, a manifestation meeting is held for ESE students who commit an expellable offense to determine if, in fact, the offense is a manifestation of the student’s handicap. If it is determined that the offense is a manifestation of their handicap, a change of placement is recommended. The ESE Case Review Committee is composed of the ESE Staffing Coordinator, ESE Coordinator/Supervisor, Principal/Designee and the parents.

Other: This is in accordance with policy 5.11 and 5.12 (Procedure Summary) which governs change of placement of students and zero tolerance for school related offenses.

There is no additional cost to the School District.
