Approve Renewal Partnership Agreement with the Tampa Housing Authority for Job Skills Training, 2006/2007 (Adult Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Workforce training programs in computer and employability skills have been available through partnership agreements with the Tampa Housing Authority (THA) since 1998. A renewal Partnership Agreement has been developed to continue educational opportunities for the THA public housing residents to become self-sufficient by gaining job skills at district adult technical centers. The Agreement delineates the responsibilities of THA and the District for program offerings.

Tampa Housing Authority will continue to refer its residents for a Workplace Essentials class composed of basic computer skills and employability skills; for academic, interest, and aptitude assessments; and for job preparatory skills training at Aparicio-Levy, Brewster, Erwin, and Learey Technical Centers. Through this Partnership Agreement, THA will sponsor the costs for tuition, books, and fees for these educational services.
