Approve Amendment #1 of the Contract Between Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, Inc., and the School District of Hillsborough County School Readiness Programs Effective June 7, 2006 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The contract provides match funding utilized solely for meeting the 6% match requirement mandated by the Agency for Workforce Innovation – Office of Early Learning for the Hillsborough County School readiness allocation. The effective dates of the contract are September 1, 2005, through August 31, 2006. Amendment #1 provides an increase of funds from the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County to the Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, Inc. and passed on to the School District of Hillsborough County School Readiness Programs to assist in meeting the required match, thereby assuring that maximum federal funding can be drawn down for the continuation of early education and child care services for approximately 12,781 children from income eligible families in Hillsborough County. The document was received in the Hillsborough County Public Schools – School Readiness Programs’ Office on May 9, 2006, from the Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, Inc. after its board’s approval.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The increase of $12,500 to the original contract amount of $536,873 is to be used to meet the match funding required for the Hillsborough County allocation of school readiness dollars from the Agency for Workforce Innovation Office of Early Learning.

EVALUATION

This contract amendment is reflected in the year-end financial statements which are audited annually by the Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, Inc. doing business as the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County as prescribed by law. The Board will receive the audit reports when they are completed. The time of completion will vary based upon the activities of the auditors.
