Approve Renewal Agreement for Educational Services and Facilities Usage with the City of Tampa for Fire Fighter Training by Learey Technical Center, 2006/2007 (Adult Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The City of Tampa Fire Department has requested renewal of the Agreement for Educational Services and Facilities Usage to provide training to the City of Tampa fire fighters and paramedics. Learey Technical Center successfully initiated training for the City of Tampa fire fighters and paramedics in 1988. Annually 6,000 hours of training is provided to approximately 600 City of Tampa Fire Rescue employees in the areas of fire fighting science and techniques as well as emergency medical procedures.

This continuation agreement for public service training of City of Tampa Fire Department employees is for the period July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007. This Interlocal Agreement is mutually beneficial for continuation of necessary fire fighter sciences training in the City of Tampa.

This item is included in the divisional general operating budget. The training programs provided for the City of Tampa fire fighters generate Workforce Education Funds.

EVALUATION

Evaluation will be based on an analysis of the number of fire fighters trained and the number of the Occupational Completion Points earned by June 30, 2007.
