Approve Renewal Memorandum of Agreement with Mental Health Care, Inc. for Exceptional Student Education Services, July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007 - $332,850 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

State Rule 6A6.0306(4)(d)3 requires mental health counseling and parent involvement activities for severely emotionally disturbed (SED) and emotionally handicapped (EH) students. Since August 1994, the School District has contracted with Mental Health Care, Inc. (MHC) to provide therapeutic services for students and their families being served in these exceptional student education programs.

A renewal Memorandum of Agreement with Mental Health Care, Inc. has been developed for July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007, for $332,850 for continuation of services.

This Agreement, along with additional services provided by MHC with funds from the Department of Children and Families and the School District Psychological and Social Work Services, provides psychiatric, respite, counseling, and after-school program services for approximately 550 EH/SED students throughout the District at 18 sites and wraparound services for the families.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The district will close the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $332,850 are included in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Project 1231.
