Approve Waiver of Policy 12-4b, "Handling and Receipting of Athletic Money" Athletic Guidebook of Procedures, for the Blake/Middleton Football Game, September 23, 2006 (Athletics Department)

Blake and Middleton High Schools, as well as the respective communities and alumni, have worked very hard to promote the Blake/Middleton football game scheduled for Raymond James Stadium on September 23, 2006. The ticket price for this game has been increased from $5 to $8 each to offset the rental cost of $32,000 for Raymond James Stadium.

The Athletic Guidebook of Procedures Policy 12-4b states "All revenue, fees, and/or guarantees received as a result of Athletic programs will be credited to the School Board of Hillsborough County general fund."

Due to the efforts of Blake and Middleton High Schools and their communities, it is recommended that the School Board approve a waiver of Policy 12-4b for the Blake/Middleton Football Game on September 23, 2006, so that if this game produces a profit, the $3 above the regular ticket price of $5 will be returned to Blake and Middleton High Schools equally via their incentive accounts through the Athletics Department. This provides an increased incentive for both Middleton and Blake High Schools to actively promote attendance at the game.

If approved, this waiver could be used as a model for other high-profile athletic events.

All game expenses must be paid before incentive funds will be issued. If the game produces a profit, then $3 above the regular ticket price of $5 will be returned to Blake and Middleton High Schools equally via their incentive accounts through the Athletics Department. All purchases from these incentive funds must be approved by the Director of Athletics.
