SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
SCHOOL CONCURRENCY PILOT PROJECT EXTENSION OF CONTRACT FOR STATE-FUNDED SUBGRANT.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County has been selected by the State to serve as one of 6 pilot communities in the state to develop a School Concurrency program and its associate components. The School District of Hillsborough County is leading this effort along with the Planning Commission and the four local governments. As part of that pilot program the District is to collect $200,000 from a grant issued by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) which was memorialized in an agreement between the State and the District approved by the School Board in October 2005. Due to some delays in collecting and assessing data related to this project, the District requested and was granted an extension of the June 1, 2006 deadline from the DCA. The extension establishes a July 3, 2006 deadline for completion of the final task (TASK 5) of this project. A revised contract is required to be submitted to the DCA to effectuate the extension.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Critical Success Factor 6.a.8: Provide sufficient student stations to ensure uninterrupted student learning and data gathering as measured by District Operational Goals plan.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The grant provided reimbursement for certain costs and/or consulting fees associated with the preparation of the School Element totaling $200,000. The task related to this extension would be for the remaining $80,000 of this grant.
