SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the Updated Safety, Health and Environmental Manual.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Safety, Health, and Environmental Manual has been updated to reflect changes in various safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as changes in district operational procedures. Key improvements include:
  1. Section 5.3: District Annual Comprehensive Fire, Safety, Casualty, and Sanitation Inspections - The process is more clearly defined to further enhance the inspection and repair process.
  2. Section 7.6: Automated External Defibrillator (AED) - Information has been added including the operating procedures, training requirements, use, storage, and maintenance of the AED.
  3. Section 8.8: Indoor Air Quality in Schools - Provides updated guidance for dealing with indoor air quality complaints.
  4. Appendix G: Transportation and Traffic Safety is updated and incorporated into the manual.
This action replaces the current Safety, Health, and Environmental Manual approved by the School Board March 7, 2000. A copy of the updated manual is available for review in the School Board Office; once approved, the manual will be available online for all sites.

The cost for printing the manual and implementing various components are included in the Safety Office operating budget (Part I -- $4,200).
