Approve Renewal Contractual Agreement with Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc., for Foster Grandparent Program for Exceptional Student Education, 2006/2007 - $60,544 (Exceptional Student Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The District has contracted for several years with Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc. for foster grandparents to provide services to our mentally and physically handicapped students. This renewal contract provides for up to 81 foster grandparent positions for 20 hours per week. District staff assigns the foster grandparents to appropriate students commensurate with their skills and training. The nurturing services provided by foster grandparents are extremely beneficial to general education and exceptional education students.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 – The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $60,544 are available to serve general education and exceptional education students ($34,494 from the divisional general operating budget and $26,050 from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) budget).
