Approve Grant Application to Workforce Florida, Inc., and if Approved, Accept Funds for Quick Response Training for Ford Motor Credit Company, for Aparicio-Levy Technical Center, $65,000 (Adult Technical Education)

Florida Statutes established the Quick Response Training Program to meet the short-term workforce skill needs of new or expanding businesses. In concert with the Committee of 100 of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Aparicio-Levy Technical Center will implement a customized training program for positions in loan servicing, accounting, and account administration for approximately 200 new hires at the Ford Motor Credit Company facility located in Sabal Park.

The application to Workforce Florida, Inc. for Ford Motor Credit Company requests $65,000 to support the cost of specialized training for a 24-month period. Florida’s Quick Response Training Grant is a three-party partnership among Workforce Florida, Inc., the company, and the designated local education agency (LEA) which serves as the fiscal agent. Since Aparicio-Levy Technical Center will serve as the training provider, the School District of Hillsborough County is the appropriate LEA.

If approved, grants funds of $65,000 will be included in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget.

Performance evaluation measures are determined by Workforce Florida, Inc. The annual performance report will be completed in August 2007. The results of the evaluation will be shared with all stakeholders.
