Approve Renewal Lease with McDill Columbus Corporation for Classroom Space for Career Recruitment and Instruction in Basic English (CARIBE) Program, 2006/2007 - $54,228 (Adult and Community Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The district has leased classroom space for the Career Recruitment and Instruction in Basic English I (CARIBE) adult education program at McDill Columbus Corporation, 2700 North MacDill Avenue in Tampa since 2001. The facility is used for approximately 250 adult learners enrolled through CARIBE for free instruction in English language, General Educational Development (GED), and technical and career training for recent refugees and political asylees. The location has proved to be ideal for recruiting and retaining the targeted refugee population.
A renewal lease has been developed for the period August 1, 2006, through July 31, 2007, for 3,400 sq.ft. of classroom space at a monthly rate of $4,519 for an annual lease of $54,228, including all utilities and custodial services.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The annual cost of $54,228 is included in the CARIBE grant funds in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget. There is no additional expense to the district.
EVALUATION
October 31, 2007 - Evaluation will include review of all contract components of the lease to ensure appropriate facilities for adult education classrooms.
