Approve the Contract Between the City of Tampa and the Hillsborough County Public Schools, Effective October 1, 2006 (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)

The funds provided by the City of Tampa are a portion of the 6% local match funds required to utilize federal Child Care and Development Block Grant dollars. The City match funds draw down approximately $977,100 of the federal dollars. The total funding will provide child care and early education services for children of income eligible families residing within the city limits. The term of this contract is October 1, 2006, through September 30, 2007.

Goal 5 - The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

The match funds of $58,626 coupled with the federal draw down of $977,100 is used to provide part-time early education and child care services for approximately 800 children of income-eligible families residing within the Tampa city limits. This year’s match represents a 20% reduction from the previous year’s allocation.

This contract is reflected in the year-end financial statements which are audited annually by the Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, Inc. as prescribed by law. The Board will receive the audit reports when they are completed. The time of completion will vary based upon the activities of the auditors.
